A scheme called “Chinnara Vana Darshana” was initiated by Karnataka Forest Department in 2015 to create awareness among students to sensitize them towards conservation of Forests and Wildlife. Children in their formative years, once sensitized about the role and importance of forests, will be partners in future conservation efforts.
Vana Charitable Trust is pleased to offer a similar scheme called Kanthavara Vana Darshana for 6-8th Std students studying in Kanthavara Grama. The Vana Darshana will be conducted at Kanthavara Forest Basecamp from 10am-4pm. A minivan (9+1 seater) will be sent daily to pick up students and teachers at and drop back to school. Minimum 1 teacher should accompany the students. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Students will be given information about Forests & Wildlife, they will be shown a movie and asked to write an essay and/or make a painting. Schools / students with the best participation will be recommended for future prizes from Karnataka Forest Department directly.
